When I was 8 years old I did something really bad to my kid brother...

I tried to kill him with a brick.

Well as we tossed the bricks one by one up into the sky, my 8 year old brain convinced my 8 year old arms that it would be cartoon hilarious if I tossed one of those bricks in such a way so that when it fell back down it would land on my brothers head.

And being 8 years old and not the sharpest tool in the shed to begin with - the dangers of my little "prank" were entirely lost on me. 

But when that brick descended and actually DID smash into my brother's head, the reality came crashing down on me, much like the brick itself. 

Turns out, it wasn’t that funny after all. 

In fact, it was terrifying. 

In that heart-stopping moment, I was consumed with instant regret so profound, it felt like a gaping hole in my chest.

It’s funny (and somewhat philosophical) how some moments, especially those from our childhood, teach us profound lessons. 

In my case, it was an understanding of how 'Gravity' really works in its most brutal form.
