This past week I've been telling you about how I took some of my trading profits to take the kids down to Quentin Tarantino’s restored Vista Theatre to watch A Christmas Story on original film.

There’s a sequence in that movie that still makes me laugh — and wince — every single time.

Ralphie is out helping his dad change a flat tire.

The hubcap flips.

The lug nuts go flying in slow motion.

And that’s when it happens:

“Fuuuuuudge…”

Only — as grown-ups, we know… he did not say “fudge.”

Next thing you know?

Bathroom.

Bar of soap.

Unpleasant life lesson.

Actions → consequences.

But the kicker is what happens later.

Ralphie imagines himself going BLIND from his mother forcing him to eat soap - sitting at the dinner table with sunglasses on, dramatically whispering

“It… it was soap poisoning…”

Suddenly, in his head, the discipline wasn’t a correction —

it was a catastrophe.

Traders do the exact same thing all the time.

I've done it myself.

They break a rule once.

Take a small loss.

Get reminded by the market to knock it off.

And instead of saying, “Okay — lesson received,” 

they spiral straight into:

“I’m terrible at this.”

“I’ll never figure it out.”

“My trading career is doomed.”

They turn a small correction into soap poisoning.

But discipline is not punishment — it’s protection.

The way I trade — and the way I want to teach you how to trade — is built around that idea.

Defined risk.

No drama when something doesn’t work.
