The first time I watched the movie 'Stand By Me' I could tell there was something extra-ordinary about it.
It was way back in 1986 - and still being a teenager, I couldn't quite put my finger on exactly what it was...
But I could tell that there was something 'different' about that film.
Something special.
Something magical.
Something rare.
Now, 35 years later, it's still one of favorite movies.
And I'm not the only one with this crazy 'Stand By Me' love affair.
It's sort of become iconic. Universal. Hardwired into the consciousness of our generation.
A nostalgic coming of age story that straddles the line between childhood innocence and the reality of becoming an adult...
A bittersweet tribute to days gone by and to those adolescent golden years that are lost forever...
As I've talked about over the past several days, a little while back I took my wife and kids on a cross country 'RV Road Trip' where along the way I taught my kids how to trade...
...and during the very last leg of that trip we drove through Brownsville, Oregon - which is the little town where they filmed 'Stand By Me'.
The town of Brownsville is amazing...
...it looks like it's been sealed up in a time capsule for the last 60 years.
When we arrived there it was growing late in the afternoon - and as we started to walk around - I began to get this weird feeling...
Because the streets were completely silent and empty.
There were no other people around.
It was eerie. Like an episode from the Twilight Zone.
It was just us - all by ourselves - wandering around this 'frozen in time' 1950's Ghost Town.
But then suddenly this tall man in a blue hat appeared - seemingly out of nowhere...
And what happened next was one of the coolest things that has ever happened to me...
Thankfully, I had my iphone on me and I quickly pulled it out and began to film everything -
Then I made a short video about all of it - which I'll show you in just a second -
But before we get to that - let's talk about...
MOONS & GOOCHERS...
MOONS & GOOCHERS
One of my favorite scenes in the movie 'Stand By Me' is when the four boys are at the junkyard and they flip coins to see who has to walk into town to get the 'provisions'.
They all wind up flipping 4 TAILS - which is a 'GOOCHER'.
And they all sort of freak out - because they think it's a sign of bad luck.
But the opposite of a 'GOOCHER' is when you start flipping consecutive HEADS in a row.
That's called 'MOONS' - and it's a GOOD thing -
And it's one of those Stand By Me 'terms' that has stuck with me ever since I first saw the movie -
A term that I still use all the time - especially with my kids.
In fact - I've even referred to my Main Bread and Butter Trade as my 'Moons Trade' -
Because of it's uncanny ability to to consistently produce winning trade after winning trade - over and over again.
I've started to call these consecutive winning trade streaks 'Moon Runs' - and they're actually not that uncommon when I'm trading the way I trade - and that I'd like to show to you.
Now, of course that doesn't mean that this strategy will never lose or 'screw the pooch' - as Teddy Duchamp from the movie would say.
Of course there will be losing trades along the way.
This is investing - and as we all know when we're trading there's always going to be some degree of risk involved.
HOWEVER - because of the particular way my trade works - how it's specifically constructed - and especially how it's set up and managed...
This is a trade that can consistently pile up WAY MORE winners than losers -
Then, as long as you make sure to correctly manage the occasional losers - which I will show you exactly how to do -
